About Tracy

Tracy's yoga journey began more than 10 years ago while trying to quit smoking. Her introduction to yoga was a Kripalu class which she immediately loved but, did not continue to practice after she kicked the habit. It would take a few more years before she understood the beauty and significance of yoga in her life. Tracy returned to yoga after years in academia as a way to bring her body back into an environment that values mind over body, and as a way to deal with stress, chronic pain, fatigue and insomnia. After completing her doctorate in Adult Education and Community Development in 2006, Tracy desired the coming together of her professional and personal life and began integrating yoga philosophy and meditation in her courses on disability and gender. Taking time off from academia, she focused on healing her body and mind and became certified as a Hatha and Akhanda Yoga instructor in 2008 under the guidance and grace of Yogi Vishvektu and Chetana Panwar. Tracy's yoga classes are gentle and focus on holding poses a little longer to invite contemplation. Grace and generosity—towards self, others, and the environment—are what grounds her classes. By connecting breath with movement we (re)discover grace in ourselves, in our bodies and, in the world around us. Through grace, generosity unfolds within and around us.
